I just used 4 rechargeable AA batteries I use to have a hand held nichrome wire cutter that used two D cells, but those are tough to find. I abandoned the smaller hot wire cutter since I've built a much larger one that is powered directly off an ATX power supply's 5V rail.

I'd love to get a list of materials /bricks used and as Haasebert already mentioned, a guide for the power supply. Great work anyway! This has to be one of the greatest custom built gadgets I've seen in a while.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the power supply you used for the wire cutter? I'd like to build one, but I'm trying to do it on the cheap.

Thanks so much!

You're definitely right. The compressor in that video has a 3 way manifold so I can split the air. The air chamber is getting air blown in at a regulated 30 PSI (with losses). In order to get BB's into the chamber you need to overcome the force closing the one way valve and you'll need a second 30 PSI source. It's much more than what we can blow in using our mouths.
